Santa Cruz born and long-time Oakland resident Ron Stade has decades of experience crafting custom tile projects throughout the East Bay.
He started as a tile apprentice in Florida and returned to the Bay Area where he installed tile with a local builder for several years as the lead tile setter on both residential and commercial projects around the Bay.
In 2004 he obtained his C-54 Tile and Mosaic contractors license as Amber Tile, with a “sole employee craftsman” oriented approach and a focus on residential bathrooms, kitchens, entryways, decks and fireplaces. Over the past two decades, Ron has subcontracted for many of the East Bay’s top general contractors and architects and also worked directly with homeowners.
It was on a community volunteer renovation project in the early 90’s that I found my calling with tile work—which lands at the intersection of art and construction.
I discovered that I possess the patience and attention to detail that excellent tile work demands. Having worked with a wide variety of tile throughout the years, I strive to make my clients’ vision a reality by handcrafting beautiful spaces.
I keep a clean job site and am meticulous with my layouts, not setting the first tile until I know what the last tile will look like. I also ensure all necessary materials are used and methods applied to make the underlying surfaces waterproof and crack resistant. I set all the tiles myself, ensuring the highest level of craftsmanship. I hope to have the opportunity to work with you!
